Illegal Soccer Coastal Cliff Guide

Green turf, sea cliffs, and why the boat is set dressing — not a grapple point.

Coastal Cliff Map Guide

The coastal cliff pitch is one of two confirmed Illegal Soccer maps. It appears in the official gallery images and match footage: green turf, a boat in the background, cliffs on one or both sides, water beyond, and a red honeycomb goal. The camera on coastal is higher and more open than desert. This page is the complete guide for that postcard.

What coastal looks like

A grass pitch with stadium lights (smaller than desert), cliffs on the sides, open water beyond the cliffs, a boat prop near one goal, and a red honeycomb net. The floor rings, scoreboard, timer, and gadget slots are identical to the desert map. Only the surface, vertical geometry, and color palette change.

Height is the feature

Coastal is where jetpacks actually matter. The cliff walls and the open sky create usable vertical space. A striker who understands when to hang and when to land has a real advantage on this pitch. The trade-off: water is out of play, and the fall from a cliff jet is real physics, not a game mechanic.

The boat is set dressing. Do not grapple the boat. It is not a usable geometry object. Attempting to hook it mid-air will waste your pip and leave you falling into the water.

Gadgets on coastal

Jetpack — This is the jet map. Use height to meet crosses, skip slides, and rotate from keeper to striker in one motion. One hang per attack, not per touch. A full-pip jet that lands in the box is a shot setup. A zero-pip jet that overshoots the pitch is a respawn.

Grapple — Works on cliff edges and light poles. Useful for reaching bounces that roll toward the water side. Less vertical utility than jet but more pip-efficient. Grapple the cliff edge to redirect, then land on the turf.

Oil — Oil on green turf reads earlier than on desert dirt. The contrast is higher. Chaos should oil the wing lines. Keepers: oil the arc, but watch for the read difference — coastal oil is visible from further away.

Gun — The elevated cliff positions are pre-aim territory. If you are a striker on coastal, stay in the paint. If you are chaos, the cliffs are your vantage. Pre-aim landings, not aerial streakers.

Striker playbook on coastal

  1. Jet is your primary tool. One hang per attack to meet a cross or a loose ball near the box.
  2. Land in the painted area. Water is out of play. If you jet over the cliffs, you are dead.
  3. Target the far post of the red honeycomb — center spark is a keeper’s dream.
  4. If the keeper shades one post, attack the open side.
  5. Grapple the cliff edge for a cutback angle if the keeper pre-aims early.

Keeper playbook on coastal

  1. Shade the post toward the water side — attackers love to hang from that cliff edge.
  2. Jet only for lobs. Low balls are grounded saves.
  3. Pre-aim cliff edges during live play. Tourist jets are visible and vulnerable.
  4. Oil the arc when chaos plants. Oil reads slightly earlier on green turf.
  5. Boot wide on clearances. Water out of play means a ball in the water is a turnover.

What not to do on coastal

  • Jet over the cliffs. Water is out of play. The game will kill you.
  • Grapple the boat. It is a prop. Attempting to use it wastes your pip.
  • Stay airborne for a full jet tour. You are visible from the whole pitch and every gunner can pre-aim your landing.
  • Take a double-gun kit. You need a movement gadget more than ever on this map.

Practice drill

One full match allowing one jet hang per attack. Track how many shots came from the air versus the ground. If your clip is all aerial and your score is 0, you are jet-touristing instead of finishing. Land, touch, shoot. The hang is a setup, not the highlight.

Map shorthand

One hang per attack. Cliff edges are geometry. The boat is fake. Water kills. The red net punishes center shots.

Pair with how to score for finishing, how to survive for not dying on the water edge, and the loadout table for kit selection.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for codes, gadgets, and chaotic matches.

Can I grapple the boat on coastal?

No. The boat is set dressing and not usable geometry. Attempting to grapple it wastes your pip.

What happens if I jet over the cliffs?

The water is out of play. You die and respawn. Jets on coastal should be used for positioning, not exploration.

Is coastal better for jets than desert?

Yes. The open vertical space and cliff edges make jets more effective. Desert still rewards jets but coastal is the jet map.

Why is oil easier to read on coastal?

Green turf provides higher contrast than brown dirt. Oil on coastal is visible from further away.

Which direction should I shade as a keeper?

Toward the water side cliff. Attackers frequently hang from that cliff edge and you need to be positioned to cut off the angle.
